Ok, now that you’ve booked your boudoir shoot, what do I have to do to prepare for my boudoir session? Every woman asks that, and it can be kind of nerve racking. There are tons of nerves and emotions leading up to a boudoir shoot, and that’s ok! I’m here to help! I wanted to write down some guidelines and suggestions to ease and organize your minds and prepare you for this awesome experience!
While a Boudoir Experience is a blast and can help so much with your self-confidence and exploring you’re sexuality, it’s not a magic fix. Our insecurities are not going to go away immediately, but something we CAN do is try and reframe our mind and how we feel about our insecurities.
Here are some of my favorite affirmations I practice that I highly recommend practicing yourself:)
1. I love my body and I love myself. 2. I am perfect and complete just the way I am. 3. I feed my body healthy nourishing food and give it healthy nourishing exercise because it deserves to be taken care of. 4. A goal weight is an arbitrary number; how I feel is what’s important. 5. Body, if you can love me for who I am, I promise to love you for who you are. 6. My body can do awesome things. 7. My body is a gift. I treat it with love and respect. 8. I am not my thoughts. 9. I am not my fears. 10. I rise above my insecurities. 11. I have the courage to be seen. 12. It is safe for me to be my authentic self. 13. I can do hard things. 14. I feel safe in my body. 15. My body always takes care of me. 16. My body is my home, and I choose to build it up instead of tearing it down. 17. I release self-criticism and choose self-love. 18. I release all doubts and insecurities about myself. 19. I am worthy, inside and out. I am enough, just as I am. 20. I choose to love myself exactly as I am. 21. I am radiant. I am stunning. I am beautiful. 22. I love myself fully. I am always worthy. I matter.
STRETCH!!
We will be doing some poses that will use muscles you aren’t used to using everyday. Stretching a week before hand will help you do the poses to their full capacity and help prevent any soreness you could experience the day after 🙂
DO NOT change your skin routine the week before, we don’t want to cause any unwanted breakouts or redness.
DO stay hydrated! Make sure and drink lots of water everyday leading up to your session!
DO NOT get a wax before if this will be your first time, this can cause unwanted redness and bumps, if you wax regularly a week before your shoot date is a great time-frame.
I have a lot of clients that would like to look sunkissed for their sessions so if that’s what you desire I’d recommend going to a tanning salon a month before! Make sure to use SPF and don’t wear anything that could give you some funky tan lines.
PLEASE DO NOT get a spray tan from an automatic machine. They have never photographed well for me. However, if you have a trusted spray tan artist I have seen many tans manually applied that look great!
Make sure you have a clean makeup free face when you arrive and make sure your hair is dried completely so we can get started with styling immediately.
